Discover what mushrooms really are, using real examples you can handle and explore, guided discussion and tactile learning.

The session builds confidence in identifying, selecting, and using mushrooms whether bought from shops or grown at home while deepening understanding of their role in nature.

You will discover the difference between the visible fruiting body and the vast underground networks of mycelium that support life above ground.

Knowledge-sharing is balanced with creativity, before the workshop moves into a practical making session where you prepare your own mushroom grow kit to take home and cultivate.

With step-by-step guidance from the Caley Brothers, clear aftercare advice, and time for questions throughout, you will leave feeling inspired and supported to continue your mushroom-growing journey beyond the workshop.

The experience is followed by an exclusive guided tour of Kew’s Fungarium,, offering insight into the diversity, science, and importance of fungal collections.

Please note, this workshop is for adults aged 18+ only.

Garden entry is included in the price of this ticket.
