Growing Futures - Wakehurst to Knepp

Launched to celebrate Weald to Waves' 100 Mile Classroom, giving young people the chance to connect with nature and explore a variety of green careers.

Coronation Meadow in summer

A two-day programme to introduce young people to green careers, in collaboration with Knepp Wildland Foundation.

During this two day programme, participants will go behind the scenes at Wakehurst, hearing from various departments including the Millennium Seed Bank, Marketing and Communications and our Visitor Experience team. Then it's time to get hands on in our 535 acres of diverse landscapes, joining our horticulture and Nature Unlocked teams in interactive workshops.

At Knepp, a trailblazing 3500-acre rewilding project, participants will find out more about the Weald to Waves 100-mile nature recovery corridor, the many roles and jobs that support that effort, as well as exploring Knepp's brilliant biodiversity, from storks to purple emperor butterflies. Once inspired by nature on the doorstep, participants will workshop a real-life nature challenge to drive meaningful change.

This opportunity is open to young people ages 16-25. The programme will run twice on select days in the May half term and August summer holidays.

This project is just the start of more work experience opportunities across the Weald to Waves corridor.
