Join us for an orchid spectacular inspired by China, as we celebrate 30 years of our much-loved orchid festival.

The 2026 festival takes inspiration from China’s remarkable biodiversity, heritage and design traditions, filling our Princess of Wales glasshouse with a dazzling array of orchids and large-scale floral installations, as well as a soundtrack by musicians Yijia and mui zyu.

Wander among dragons, lanterns and intricate plant sculptures that bring to life the beauty and wildlife of one of the world’s most biodiverse countries and experience a burst of colour and warmth in the winter months.

Orchids will also provide an opportunity to celebrate the reach of Kew’s science and highlight the importance of plant conservation and global collaboration.

Accessibility

Wheelchairs and mobility scooters are permitted in the Princess of Wales Conservatory during the orchid festival. Please note that not all of the glasshouse is wheelchair accessible, but all locations pertaining to the orchid festival are.

For the best experience, we advise visitors using a mobility scooter or wheelchair to consider booking quieter slots, such as weekday mornings or one of our Monday quiet sessions as weekend slots tend to be very busy.

Kew mobility scooters can be booked out in advance on our accessibility page.

Monday quiet sessions

On Mondays throughout Orchids (9, 16, 23 February and 2 March) from 11am to 12pm, we have a limited number of tickets for people to enter the festival before it opens to the general public. This offers a quieter and more comfortable experience for autistic visitors, people with learning disabilities, visitors using mobility scooters or wheelchairs, or those with other sensory processing differences to enjoy Orchids.
