Get ready for a fun and silly outing at Kew Gardens this Easter with the arrival of everyone's favourite heroic spud, Supertato and his veggie friends! The beloved creation of best-selling authors Sue Hendra and Paul Linnet comes to life across several interactive zones with hands-on activities, fruit and veggie-themed challenges and live performers, all set within the historic landscape of Kew's 320-acre UNESCO World Heritage Site in West London.

From carnival parades to an activity-packed sports zone, families are invited to dress in the vibrant colours of their favourite fruit and veg as they dance, play, and learn more about fruit and veggies and help Supertato on his quest to thwart the mischievous scheming of his arch-nemesis, Evil Pea.

Paul Denton, Head of Visitor Programmes and Exhibitions at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew says: ‘We are absolutely delighted to welcome Supertato and his fruit and veggie friends to Kew Gardens this spring. This brand-new family programme is packed with fun activities, playful music, and silly games all centred around the wonderful world plants. Supertato is guaranteed to be the highlight of the Easter holiday break offering unforgettable moments for visitors of all ages.'

Start your adventure by stepping into the outdoor Supertato Supermarket where you can pick up an activity guide and indulge in the imaginative play sets and games taken straight from the pages of the books. From there, put on your dancing shoes and join Supertato and friends at the Vegetable Carnival where a team of live performers will help you get your groove on.

Next up, the Super Sports Day zone will give you a chance to test your athletic skills and help Supertato track down the Evil Pea, before continuing your adventure along the Veggie Fact Trail, where you will learn some amazing facts about fruit and vegetable plants.

Don't forget to bring your camera as there will also be an opportunity to snap a photo with your favourite supermarket superhero in a special dress-up zone.

Sue Hendra and Paul Linnet said: ‘We can’t think of a more exciting and magical place for Supertato and the Veggies to find themselves than Kew Gardens. The team have worked so hard to make a fun day out for Supertato fans and those who’ve never even met the spud. We can’t wait to visit!’

Supertato is open to families visiting Kew Gardens and is included in the price of admission, while Kew members have the opportunity to enter early from 9-10am. Kew’s £1 ticket is available for recipients of Universal Credit, Pension Credit and other legacy benefits, as well as asylum applicants with a valid ARC card. £1 ticket buyers are also able to bring up to 4 additional guests to Kew Gardens for £1, ensuring everyone has a chance to enjoy a day out in nature. About Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew

The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew is a world-famous scientific and horticultural institution and conservation charity, whose mission is to understand and protect plants and fungi for the wellbeing of people and the future of all life on Earth. It is internationally respected for its outstanding collections, horticultural and scientific expertise in plant and fungal diversity, conservation and sustainable development in the UK and around the globe. Kew Gardens, with its 132 hectares of historic, landscaped gardens, is also a major attraction for international and London visitors alike. Dating back to 1759, the site has a rich history and was made a UNESCO World Heritage Site in July 2003. Combined visitor numbers with Wakehurst, Kew’s wild botanic garden in Sussex, total over 2.5 million per year. Wakehurst is home to the Millennium Seed Bank, the largest wild plant seed bank in the world and a safeguard against the disastrous effects of climate change and biodiversity loss.

RBG Kew receives approximately one third of its funding from the UK Government through the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) and research councils, with the remaining two thirds coming from supporters, sponsors, memberships and commercial activity including ticket sales. This enables RBG Kew to carry out its vital scientific and educational work.

For tickets and membership options, please visit our website. Since implementing a new accessibility scheme for those in receipt of Universal Credit, Pension Credit and Legacy Benefits, Kew has welcomed over 100,000 visitors with £1 tickets across both UK sites.
