Why do a postdoc or fellowship at Kew?
Kew offers postdoctoral training in a wide range of fields, including plant and fungal science, environmental research and the plant humanities. Our postdocs and fellows benefit not only from the expertise of our researchers but also from access to our unique and extensive collections at Kew Gardens and Wakehurst, including the Herbarium and Fungarium, Library and Archives, the Millennium Seed Bank and the live collections in the gardens.
What can you expect from a postdoc or fellowship at Kew?
A postdoctoral position or fellowship is an opportunity to make an expert contribution to research, while adding new skills and developing a track record in outputs such as publications.
In addition to mentorship from their manager, Kew postdocs are also encouraged to build networks of collaborators, contribute to public engagement, and participate in a wide range of seminars and training opportunities. Kew Research Fellows receive additional training and development, which is often open to other postdocs too.
Within our Science Directorate at Kew, we aim to understand and protect biodiversity and to discover sustainable solutions to some of humanity’s biggest challenges, and we work with postdoctoral researchers that contribute to these aims. Find out more about our research priorities and initiatives.
