Discover the beauty of Wakehurst’s meadows on a guided walk through some of its most iconic landscapes, including Bloomers Valley, Hanging Meadow and the Coronation Meadow.
This scenic two-mile route offers the perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in vibrant wildflower displays while learning about the rich ecology, fascinating history and wildlife that thrive in these spaces. You’ll also gain practical tips on how to create your own meadow at home.
Please note: for a more accessible experience, join us on 8 July for a specially adapted workshop with a shorter route near the Millennium Seed Bank, designed to offer an inclusive way to enjoy the splendour of Wakehurst’s meadows.
An evening with a Wakehurst expert
Led by Wakehurst's Head of Landscape and Horticulture Iain Parkinson, don't miss this opportunity to hear from a true Wakehurst expert, who knows our meadows and wider landscape very well. As Iain would say, Wakehurst is particularly special on a summer's evening, and the haze of the meadow will make the perfect backdrop for you to soak in nature, connect with your surroundings and come away with some knowledge, too.
About the workshop leader
Iain Parkinson has dedicated the past 40 years to understanding and shaping Wakehurst's diverse landscape. With a deep-rooted passion for biodiversity, he has played a key role in the creation and restoration of wildflower meadows, helping to revive these vital ecosystems.
His expertise extends beyond the land, as reflected in his book Meadow: An Intimate Bond Between People, Place, and Plants, which explores the profound connection between meadows and those who cherish them.
